An island shaped by nature, history and everyday life
Gozo is an island that reveals itself gradually. Its landscapes are open and unhurried, shaped by centuries of farming traditions, ancient settlements and a close relationship with the sea.
Life here follows a slower rhythm, making Gozo an ideal destination for travellers who value space, authenticity and a strong sense of place.
From Silla Boutique B&B in Xagħra, guests can explore the island comfortably, without long journeys or rushed itineraries.

History and Heritage
Gozo’s story stretches back more than seven thousand years. The island is home to some of the most important prehistoric remains in the Mediterranean.
The Ġgantija Temples in Xagħra, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are among the oldest free-standing stone structures in the world and are a short walk away from Silla Boutique B&B.
Beyond Ġgantija, Gozo is home to the Cittadella, the island’s medieval city, and is dotted with baroque churches and rural chapels that reflect the island’s layered history steeped in religion.
Coastline and Beaches
Despite its small size, Gozo offers remarkable coastal variety. Sandy bays, rocky inlets and high cliffs sit within short distances of one another.
Ramla Bay, known for its red sand and natural surroundings, remains one of the island’s most distinctive beaches and it is also a a few minutes drive away (or a 30 minute walk) from Silla B&B.
Other coastal spots such as Wied il-Għasri, San Blas, Xlendi and Marsalforn offer quieter swimming areas and scenic walks. Marsalforn, one of the island’s most popular seaside locations in summer, lies just next to Xagħra and is only a short drive or bus journey from Silla Boutique B&B.

Village life and seasons
Village life remains central to Gozo’s character. Local cafés, bakeries and small shops form part of daily routines.
Seasonal festas bring villages together through music, decorations and fireworks, particularly during summer. In Xagħra, the village’s feast is celebrated between 4 – 8 September – it’s an optimal time to stay at Silla Boutique B&B!
Spring and autumn are ideal for walking and exploring, while winter offers a peaceful escape with mild temperatures.
